Captain of the Major Crimes division of the Cascade PD, Simon Banks is one tough guy! Always out in the field, willing to back his men up 100%, he is one of Jim's closest friends and - although he'd never admit it - is also just a bit fond of Sandburg. Although he'll probably admit that he's not the perfect father (nor the perfect husband - he and his wife divorced), he still cares for his son Darryl and will do anything to keep him safe. He's in on Jim's "secret," and respects his best detective's judgements even when he can't be sure of Jim's perceptions. He is well-known for both his love of a fine cigar, and his ever-brewing pot of exotic coffee.
